Fireworks and pets

Whilst holding our Firework Spectacular event, we are very conscious of the concerns regarding fireworks and effects on pets.

We support the attendance of organised displays which are contained in nature rather than general ad-hoc private fireworks which can continue over several months through the season.

Guidance on Fireworks and Pets can be found on the RSPCA website.

Many within our community will be aware of the Dogs 4 Rescue a local rescue centre who care for, rehabilitate and re-home some of the most desperate cases from all over the world.

The organisers City Airport Ltd and Illuminated have committed to staging a show with reduced noise levels in consideration of the effects noise from fireworks can have on animals. Our display this year is a pyro-musical to the music of Pink Floyd, which will be performed live on the evening by Pinked Floyd an incredible 7 piece tribute band. The fireworks will be choreographed to the music played by the band. This music naturally lends itself to more subtle fireworks and intricate sequences. In consideration to the proximity of Dogs 4 Rescue, we will make a greater use of low-noise fireworks and low-level effects so that any noise will be more contained. We will be increasing the budget to produce the show to ensure that we create an incredible spectacle whilst at the same time reducing noise.

In addition we will be moving the launch site to an area of the airfield further from the rescue, allowing over 3/4 of a mile separation. Nick Duirez (Airport Director at City Airport) and Dan Fitton (Director at fireworks company Illuminated Ltd) visited the rescue to understand more about the work they do and discuss the changes to the display which received the full support of the rescue.
City Airport & Illuminated are committed to staging an incredible community event, where people can enjoy fireworks in the safety of an organised show, whilst also being sensitive to impact fireworks can have on animals. We’d like to thank Dogs 4 Rescue for their cooperation and support and we look forward to hosting a safe and enjoyable event.
